A poster for Rihanna's perfume Rogue is to be restricted in its placement.
The Advertising Standards Agency deemed the poster "sexually suggestive" and will ban the
advert where children could easily see it. The investigation came after one person complained to the advertising watchdog.
The ad features the singer sitting on the floor with her legs up on the perfume bottle. She is also thought to be naked in the advert, wearing just a pair of heels. Parlux Fragrances, the perfume's
manufacturer, has argued that the nudity was not improper and the image was not offensive,
suggestive, or demeaning.
The ASA accepted Rihanna was mainly covered.with her arms over her breasts and had a facial expression "of defiance rather than
vulnerability."
Its report added, "While we did not consider the image to be overtly sexual, we considered that Rihanna's pose, with her legs raised inthe air, was provocative.
"Because of this, and the fact that Rihanna appeared to be naked except for high heels, we concluded that the ad was sexually
suggestive and should have been given a placement restriction to reduce the possibility of it being seen by children."
