Sexting or sending obscene messages could land you in prison. This is according to Christopher Wambua from the communications
authority of Kenya, reported the Star Newspaper.
He said sexting is an offence and one can be fined up to Sh5,000 or
be jailed for not more than 3 months.
According to the government, exchanges of obscene, nude personal pictures and adult content sites on smart phones rose by over 60% last month.
Director of public communications Mary Ombara said the habit rose
to alarming levels among the teenagers on whatsapp, Google chat, Facebook among others, during the April holidays.
The government will seek help from mobile phone operators to
track and prosecute the offenders, said Ombara.
