In
what is surely the most important and crucial scientific discovery of
the 21st century.a new research
has indicated that there is a pretty strong difference in personality
between dog-lovers and cat-lovers.
Namely, that cat people in general
boast a higher intelligence than dog people.
They are also more
introverted, open-minded, and less conforming, while dog people are more
outgoing and lively.
Research
performed at Carroll University in Wisconsin surveyed 600 college
students, asking if they considered themselves dog lovers or cat lovers.
They were also asked to describe the qualities they found most
attractive in their pets and completed an assessment of their own
personality. Sure, asking a bunch of college kids whether or not they
were conformist runs the risk of providing biased, even Nietzschean
results, but a majority of students, 60% claimed to be dog people, as
opposed to the 11% who were cat people.
The research seems to be based on the idea that people resemble their pets—at least when it comes to personalities. As reported by Live Science, researcher Denise Guastello explains:
"It makes sense that a dog person is going to be more lively, because they're going to want to be out there, outside, talking to people, bringing their dog," Guastello said. "Whereas, if you're more introverted, and sensitive, maybe you're more at home reading a book, and your cat doesn't need to go outside for a walk."
Seems pretty simplistic, but maybe all of life is simple as cat V dog? Either way, 'tis truly a victorious day for #TeamCat.
